President: Karen Frischkorn
Vice-President: Sue Bricker
Secretary: Terri Dermes
Treasurer: Joseph Stepansky (non-council)

Christian Education
This committee, in association with the pastor, oversees the conduct and promotion of the schools and the activities of all organizations within the congregation. It encourages the use of teaching and worship materials published or approved by the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), and seeks to introduce the church's periodicals and books of family devotion into the homes of the congregation. One of the primary aims of the committee is to bring the call of the ministry of the Gospel and to other full time church vocations to the attention of qualified youth of the congregation.
Chair: Dixie McCauley

This committee stimulates and leads all members of the congregation in continuous and, from time to time, concerted endeavors to reawaken the spiritually indifferent and to reach others, who are as yet un-won, with the Gospel and attach them to Christ's Church. To this end, the committee devotes itself to deepening the spiritual life and shall periodically study the congregation in the context of its surrounding community. The committee publicizes the activities of the congregation to members and non-members, as appropriate.
Chair: Julie McCauley

This committee prepares a draft budget for the succeeding year, including this congregation's full indicated share in support of the wider ministry being carried on in its behalf by the ELCA and the synod, and submits such draft budget to the Congregation Council for its action and later presentation to a congregational meeting. The committee exercises oversight of all the financial affairs of the congregation to make sure that they are being conducted efficiently, giving particular attention to the prompt payment of all obligations and to the regular forwarding of benevolence monies to the synodical treasurer. It also provides for annual audits of the accounts of the treasurer, as well as the accounts of the schools and organizations within the congregation. The committee is responsible for reviewing and recommending, as necessary, changes to the costs and methods of operation of the office.
Chair: Don Lausch

The purpose of this committee is to promote fellowship by planning and implementing social events for the church.
Chair: Terri Dermes

This committee uses the following guidelines in formulating the list of appropriate gifts: The gift should aid the church in its appointed mission. Undesignated money will not be spent for normal current fun expenses. All phases of the church's life and program will be considered, i.e., church fixtures, furnishishings and supplies benevolence, building and grounds, service, and Christian education. All money and property received by the church in the form of a memorial or special gift, whether by contribution or bequest will be deposited in the fund which is kept in an interest-bearing account separate from all other accounts of the church and is under the custody of the church treasurer. All gifts, bequests or memorials become the sole property of Good Shepherd, Paxtang. All gifts are recorded in the Memorial Book kept in the narthex.
Chair: John Pollock

Mission & Ministry
The purpose of this committee is to extend Christian compassion and helpfulness to the ill, the aged, the orphaned, the underprivileged, the imprisoned and, in general, to persons of all ages in need of aid in body or soul. It strives to enlist in these efforts as many possible of the individual members and organizations of the congregation. This committee has the duty to study social conditions, primarily in the local community, in order to bring the cleansing and healing light of Christian truth to bear upon critical problems through thoughtful Christian discussion of facts and issues.
Chair: Sue Bricker

Mutual Ministry
The purpose of this committee is to: recommend creation of an/or changes in staff positions necessary to carry out the work of the congregation; recommend candidates for vacant staff positions; serve as liaison between the staff members and the Congregation Council as well as the congregation at large; and offer support and counsel to members of the staff on a regular basis and as specific needs arise. It is the duty of the committee chairperson and/or designated representatives of the committee to meet with staff personnel annually for a review of accomplishments, goals and compensation. The committee may submit to the Finance Committee a prepared salary proposal for each member of the staff prior to the preparation of the next year's spending proposal.

This committee sees to the proper maintenance and protection of all property of the congregation, and takes care that the same is kept in good repair and adequately insured.
Chair: John Pollock

It is the function of this committee to inspire and empower the expressions of all its members to live Christian lives through time, talents and treasures. To this end, this committee shall teach the Christian use of money, communicate the congregation's local, national and worldwide ministries and lead all its members to higher levels of proportional giving for the Lord's work including discernment of each individual's personal attributes.
Chair: Judy Carlson

Worship & Music
The committee assists the Congregation Council in seeing that the services of God's house are conducted regularly and in accordance with the liturgy of the ELCA, that competent ushers are recruited and trained, and that hymnals and other devotional materials are provided and properly cared for. This committee supervises, and strives to advance the welfare and effective service of, the choirs of the congregation. It arranges for the care of paraments, vestments and musical instruments and, in consultation with the pastor, the organist and choir directors, it furnishes music supplies appropriate for use in the worship of a congregation of the ELCA.
Chair: Karen Frischkorn
